Combination skin describes having both oily and dry spots on the face.
Oily skin spots are usually on your T-zone which is your forehead and nose. The dry spots are mostly found on the cheeks, jawline, and around the eyes.
Oily skin might feel shiny and greasy, while dry spots could feel tight and flaky.
Combination skin is caused by a natural variation in sebaceous gland (gland in the skin which produces sebum into the hair follicles on the skin and hair) activity, which results in dry and oily spots on the skin.
Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and squalene contain hydrating properties. While salicylic acid and azelaic can help with oil control and breakouts, they should be used with caution due to the potential for irritation to young skin.
Look for water-based moisturizers, and lightweight, and oil free formulas to balance hydration and oil control.
Any products with harsh alcohols, synthetic fragarences, and heavy oils should be avoided with tweens in general, but specifically tweens with combination skin as it can either make the skin more oily or dry out the skin even more.
Hyaluronic Acid- Ingredient that pulls water into the skin to hydrate the skin without adding oil.
